The Inspiration
My wedding was one of the best nights of my life. I danced, I sang, and I made precious memories with family that I will always cherish. One week later, my grandmother, the matriarch of the family, suffered a stroke and passed away on June 27th, 2021. After her death, I was asked to write her obituary. After fighting back tears and grinding through the grief after every word, there were too many memories to fit onto a single page. So I wondered, why stop her legacy at the obituary? Let's go beyond it.

Rather than sticking with her obituary, I decided to put a pencil to my temple and write a book that honored her memory. 86 pages later, representing her final age, I self-published my first book and gifted it to my father on Christmas. So with death comes life, and Beyond the Obituary was born.

When I look at death, I see it as a way to celebrate someone's life and honor the legacy they leave behind to family, friends, and anyone curious in knowing who they were. Beyond the Obituary specializes in writing to celebrate who the story is about: a pet, family member, loved one, celebrity--anyone and anything.

Once you place your order, you will be sent a form to tell us anything and everything about your loved one. We want to know the details so we can tell their story the way you envision.

We Write Your Book
Once you submit your form, we work on creating your book! We send you a fully written and formatted digital book that you can review and provide feedback on. This is the time to read it over and let us know if we missed anything.

We Design and Send
We finish formatting your new legacy book and design a custom book cover that includes a picture of your loved one or anything else you want. Then we send your finished book to you to cherish and enjoy.
